So you know you need some extra cash, and a side business is perfect for you. But there is one problem:
You dont have cash. Or at least as much as you would desire to get your business jumpstarted. So what to do???

10 Options for your Home Based business loan:

1) Family loan. Get out your notepad and jot down everyone in your family. A family loan can much more desireable than an institutional loan.

2) Friend loan. Same as above-get a pad and start jotting down everyone you know who can possibly help in part or better.

3) Bank loan. Had to include this one eventually. Personal loans that are unsecured are hard to get. Try to avoid this option if you can!

4) Equity loan(against property/home etc) These are usually easy to get, but dont do it unless you are prepared to see your business through and have done all your diligence!

5) Grant. Your state might be giving a grant for your business...industry etc. Research your home state and see if anything exists..you might be surprised!

6) Paid training (free money-not a loan!) If you are ex military, displaced worker, recently fired or laid off, you might be entitled to free paid training by the state. Contact your local unemployment department or VA if you are military to find out more information.

7)Liquidate assets. Might be painfull, but if you have an extra car, or ANY asset that has value, list it on Ebay etc etc and convert it into cash. This idea is often overlooked but can be very attractive when all is said, and DONE! I had a friend who was a video movie collector..long story short..$3000 later he had his home business start up cash, and renewed his video library only 10 months later from profits from his new business! It CAN be done...

8) Get a real part time job and apply all the wages towards your new business.
This also might be painfull, but always remember why you are doing it and it is a short means to a great end!

9) Credit cards. Watch your rates, and other than that, you could create your own financing simply by using credit card(s). Be sure you have backup resources to pay for them in the event your business takes longer than expected to grow!

10) Pick a business that costs zero to start. I know you might think this is crazy, but they ARE out there. Hint: Most of them involve the web/internet!

Snake Rock has recorded a #1 single and played alongside legendary bands at some of the biggest venues in the country, but the 46-year-old musician never imagined that his passion for rock 'n' roll would become a lucrative business. "I always thought I would work all day and play clubs at night," says Rock. "I never imagined that my passion would become my full-time job."

Entrepreneurs around the country are ditching the idea that hobbies are just leisure pursuits, opting instead to turn their passions into thriving, money making businesses. "There is a wonderful trend that has [entrepreneurs] starting businesses that add meaning to their lives," says Nancy Anderson. "People are letting go of the belief that it is impossible to make money and also do what you love."

Rock eventually grew tired of working as a construction worker, and playing gigs in local clubs began to lose its appeal. He was convinced that playing with his band was the only way to feed his passion-until his wife and band manager, Karen, suggested an alternative. "Karen encouraged me to start giving music lessons so I could turn my love of music into a career," he says. "At first, I was a little intimidated by teaching, and I was worried that no one would sign up [for lessons]."

Fear of total failure is common among most business owners, but Anderson believes that entrepreneurs who are passionate about their businesses are much more likely to succeed. "Working with passion is about more than just making money; it is about being fulfilled by your work."

To ensure they were ready to open their own business, Snake and Karen Rock decided to offer music lessons on a part-time basis from their home studio in 2002. "Snake was teaching in the evenings and on the weekends, and it got to the point where we couldn't take on any more students," Karen, 49, recalls. "We had to make the decision to [keep] our regular jobs or take the leap and turn it into something bigger."

Before they started S&K Music last fall, the Rocks developed a plan and spent a good amount of time assessing the probability that their business would be successful. The couple evaluated the competition, talked to prospects and asked students for feedback about similar businesses. Based on this research, they created the plan for S&K Music, a full-service business offering music lessons, instruments, sheet music and a recording studio. Additionally, the couple chose a location in an up-and-coming area of Las Vegas where there was little competition. "In Las Vegas, the market is somewhat untapped," Snake says. "We did a lot of research and decided to take the plunge."

IN honor of Valentines day..

The hippies," claimed an economist recently, "are having their quiet revenge."

This professor at Warwick University in England, is one of a building number of people fascinated by the question of what makes people happy.

Economists have suddenly realized that money can't get you happiness? This is like the loser at school suddenly discovering that college and drive can get you an income in his late 30s. The rest of the world had figured it out already.

One of the things that gets economists excited is the ability to compare info on income, education and marital status with the results of happiness stats. In these surveys, people are asked such cool questions as " would you say you are very happy, a little happy, not very happy, pissed off?" Economists have been trying to make sense of the results across all individuals, across countries and across the timeline. The headline: Once a country gets fairly rich (though much poorer than the United States), further economic growth does not seem to make its citizens any happier...hmmmm.

So, money does not garner happiness. Or does it?
Richer people, after all, tend to have kick ass jobs. They tend to have more control over their lives at work--why pay someone six figures if you're not going to ask him to use his own judgment? They also have higher expectations and goals and will be comparing themselves to wealthier people. It's hard to measure what is really driving the results: money, status or goals.

Maybe each society's wealthier people are also happier because happiness comes not from absolute wealth but from an overall relative wealth--

A more limited view is that while it means something to compare my happiness with that of the guy asking me for change on the street, it means nothing to compare my feelings today to those of my grandfather in 1940--or those of a Mexican shopkeeper or a Korean salesman.

Many scholars are thinking about the policy implications of happiness research. My own interest is a little different: Can the new breed of happiness scholars offer us any useful information for happier living..heck, life is limited in scope, so we need to maximize all seconds, right?

Much of the advice is pretty edgy at best. For instance, married people are much happier than single people, but a few weeks ago, the opposite was reported. So perhaps you should get married, or ummm, not?

Now wait... More sophisticated and educated surveys show that the relation runs two ways: Happy people tend to find wives, while those suffering from depression don't find it so easy. Wow..theres some breaking information. As an educated civilian, I'm afraid I have no idea whether you should propose to that hot girl you've been seeing or not.

Some also suggest self-employment, if you can pull it off without losing out financially. This may bring more happiness, but shorter term of life since there is more stress inherent with self employment. "Oh goodie..im happier, but now im dead."

Some experts argue that relationships are more important than money--and that includes professional relationships. Many think the old fashion view of romance is grand and will supercede cash, while others, like Trumps wife, think that cash is king of the heart, or apparently.

If you're depressed, why not just wait a bit? "There's a kind of bell curve describing happiness over time. Your late 30s are the most unhappy period of your life, but then the older you get the happier you are. Life really does begin again at 40, or at least I hope it does!

Someone recently asked nearly 1,000 working women in Texas to reflect on their previous day, list the different episodes in it, what they were doing and how they were feeling.

Some results are predictable enough: Work is miserable, and traffic is worse. Others are not so clear. For instance, praying is fun, but looking after the kids is not (huh?).
Spending time with your friends is one of the most enjoyable things you can do, but spending time with your spouse is just OK (That I do understand!). In fact, parents or other relatives turn out to make more enjoyable company than the supposed love of your life.... maybe its quality and QUANTITY of time with that spouse, eh?

What is perfectly clear, though, is that socializing with anyone except your boss or supervisor makes you feel better. Sex is king, to be sure. Here is the best advice, at last. But what if you are getting it on with your boss?

Product, price, promotion, and placement
In popular usage, the term "marketing" refers to the promotion of products, especially advertising and branding. These four elements are often referred to as the marketing mix. A marketer can use these variables to craft a marketing plan. The four Ps model is most useful when marketing low value consumer products. Industrial products, services, high value consumer products require adjustments to this model. Services marketing must account for the unique nature of services. Industrial or b2b marketing must account for the long term contractual agreements that are typical in supply chain transactions. Relationship marketing attempts to do this by looking at marketing from a long term relationship perspective rather than individual transactions.

Im going to drop a home BASED business idea that I guarantee is NOT on the Home Biz Scam Blotter..
This opp is home based, is automotive related, and no you cannot do it from your PC. This is actually work, but it is new and relatively unknown.
What it is, is actuallly a process to renew Vehicle Headlamps (usually for dealers) to make them look new again, in literally a few minutes, without replacement.

I dont know if you have ever seen headlights yellowed or opaque-ish, but they make the front end of a used car look about 80 years old and un cared for!
Dealers LOVE this process, it save them HUGE money and helps the car run off the lot.

$85 gets someone the kit to do it and instructions. A typical repair takes 5-10 minutes for both headlights and gets you around $40-$80 each car.

Many People come to me ( or call!) and want to know what I think they should do when considering a home based business idea.

Ive printed this one before, but here it is again for those of you who haven't read this info before...

When considering a home based business idea, here is the first thing I recommend that you consider (this WILL be unique-other rarely suggest this)

A) Is this Idea something YOU would ENJOY doing? If so, for how long?
Why is this important? Well, in life, more things are to be considered other than money. Hard, smart work can reap benjamins my friend, but enjoying your life is something that should be near or at the top of your list. You only have one, so make it valued. Do something YOU LIKE!

B) How much TIME do you need to invest in this Idea?
The answer to this question is often elusive. I recommend a highly concentrated study and research effort with this topic. Time IS money, so you better know how much is needed to build and develop and run your new business idea.

C) What is a REALISTIC forecast of 1st, 2nd and 3rd year profits?
Well, if youre going to put in the time, you gotta know the dime I always say.
So, get your pencil, your research data (street research, dont rely on others skewed data) your calculator, and then punch out what you should see within reason. If it meets your goals, then check this one off, if not, then move on.

D) Barriers to entry and Competition: This is important- How EASY is your business idea to duplicate/copy and how much competition currently exists?
If you are going to put your hard time and energy into this, what does it take to have someone either copy your idea or someone elses in the same field/business? The harder your idea is to copy, and if there is very little competition, the better the chance you can make money, and for a long time!

E) Consult your spouse or family. I know, many of us have some pretty crappy family members or spouses, or both, but they should have our best wishes in mind and should be able to offer up some objective advice or opinions in the event you become jaded or unobjective with your new business idea!

F) Thats IT. The remainder of your due dilligence is as others would have you do-check out the idea, even test it if you can. You can also check your potential competitors. I cannot emphasize how important it is to do you research in detail and try to be as objective as possible. The future depends on it!
